The Gillingham Liberal Democrats are fighting to save the ticket office at Gillingham station. The ticket office is one of over 1000 across England under threat of greatly reduced hours.
Closures to ticket offices would be catastrophic for rail users, in particular vulnerable and disabled users who rely on station staff for assistance.
Gillingham Liberal Democrats have launched a petition against the closures. You can sign online here.
Lib Dem Parliamentary Campaigner Gary Jackson said, “I know many people in Gillingham rely on being able
to buy a ticket or get information from a member of staff rather than a machine.
“The Liberal Democrats have raised concerns about the potential for a rise in anti-social behaviour at stations with no staff, which would leave many rail users feeling unsafe when using our railways.”
Back the Lib Dem campaign online and tell the rail companies and the Government that this is not good enough.
I/we the undersigned call on rail companies to drop plans to shut railway station ticket offices.
